About Us

Brian and Anna at The Observatory in the Grand Traverse Commons

We're Brian and Anna. We live in Traverse City and personally host every stay at The Observatory.

We both ended up in Traverse City on our own and met here. It's the kind of place that keeps you: real seasons, a food scene that punches above its weight, and enough outdoors to stay busy year-round. The Grand Traverse Commons is where it all comes together for us. A restored 1885 campus with restaurants, a winery, a brewery, and wooded trails connecting it all. When the loft in Building 50 opened up, we took it.

The Observatory is the space we'd want to stay in ourselves. We care about the details (the books on the shelf, the bedding, the coffee setup) because those things matter when you're somewhere new. Guests should feel settled, not just housed.

Our dog Poppy is a Newfoundland. She's not much of a fetcher, but she loves hiking the trails on the Commons grounds. You'll probably see her out there.
